The Bishop comes to Kings

Wednesday 12th February saw the Kings of Wessex welcoming a special visitor to the academy in the form of the Bishop of Taunton, Ruth Worsley. She had come to the school to formally commission the academy chaplain, Ruth Motion, in a whole school celebration event.

The event gave a brilliant chance for students to reflect, and to get to know Ruth and the welfare and pastoral role which she performs at the school. It also allowed from Ruth to spread some guiding words with the students:

“Believe that God is with you and will help your light shine out whatever tightrope you’re walking”

Following her commissioning, Ruth and the Bishop had an opportunity to visit students during their RE lessons to answer questions and provide an invaluable insight into the faith which they will be able to take on into their GCSE exams.

Ruth and the Bishop also got to ceremonially ‘twin’ two of the school toilets to help provide for those in the world without adequate sanatory facilities.

Executive Head Teacher, Gavin Ball called the day:

“a wonderful opportunity for our students to engage with our Christian Ethos, and to get to know the fantastic work Ruth has already been able to do within our school”

We very much look forward to hearing of Ruth’s continued work within the school and thank Bishop Worsley for coming over to make the day so special.
