In a whirlwind of laughter, music, and enchantment, Strode Theatre was transformed into the whimsical world of “Shrek the Musical Jr.” last week, leaving audiences spellbound by the remarkable talent showcased by the school’s students.

The four performances, which kicked off with a special matinee for Elmhurst and Brookside Primary School students, were a delight to all who attended. Among the audience were reporters from Glastonbury FM, who captured snippets of the performance to share with their listeners, further amplifying the buzz surrounding the production.

Adding a touch of magic to the already electrifying atmosphere was a surprise good luck video from the touring production of “Shrek the Musical,” courtesy of Teddy Hinde, an esteemed Crispin alumnus. The heartfelt gesture served as a source of inspiration for the young cast and crew, propelling them to deliver performances that exceeded all expectations.

At the heart of the production were the stellar performances of the principle cast, led by Ronan Briggs as Shrek, Poppy Marsh as Fiona, Mackenzie Bloodworth as Donkey, and Cody Hamer as Lord Farquaad. Their portrayal of these beloved characters, infused with humour and boundless enthusiasm, breathed new life into the story, captivating audiences of all ages.

However, it wasn’t just the actors who shone on stage; behind the scenes, a dedicated team of students, led by Year 11 stage manager Molly Grenter, worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth execution of every scene, propelling the production to its full potential.

Reflecting on the success of “Shrek Jr.,” Headmaster Paul Reddick praised the creative spirit and dedication of the school’s students and staff. “This production is a testament to the immense talent and passion that thrives within our school community,” he remarked. “We are incredibly proud of all involved and eagerly anticipate the next breathtaking performance from our gifted students.”

Although the curtains have now closed on “Shrek the Musical Jr.,” the memory lives on through this video trailer produced by Crispin’s ICT Manager, Steven Baumgardt. The Crispin School community remains united in celebration of its resounding success, proving once again that the stage is where dreams come to life!
