June 22, 2023

Following their first Ofsted inspection since converting to an Academy, Wessex Learning Trust are delighted to announce that Draycott and Rodney Stoke Church of England First School has received the rating of ‘Good’ in their latest Ofsted report.

We are delighted that the report positively reflects the character and ethos of the school, which is set in beautiful countryside surroundings near Cheddar.

Below is a small snippet of the positive report they received:

Pupils enjoy coming to this friendly school. They make friends easily and quickly feel part of the community. Adults foster positive relationships with, and between, pupils. Pupils have string role models to follow.

Pupils are encouraged to make a positive contribution to the local community. They enjoy strong links with a nearby residential home. Pre-school children recently grew flowers to improve the bus stop as part of a local project. These experiences mean that pupils develop their understanding of citizenship from an early age.

Parent value the strong pastoral care at the school. Many commented on how much their children enjoy learning and the warm community feel.

Head teacher Will Ewens said,

‘I am so proud that our recent Ofsted report positively reflects the friendly, inclusive and supportive school that we are. Draycott and Rodney Stoke Church of England First School is a wonderful setting to start a child’s educational journey and that is all down to the fantastic staff, children, their families and the local community.’
