Staff Tackle 20K Trek in the Rain, Raising Over £2,000 for Cancer Charities
22 July, 2025
A dedicated group of staff members braved wet and windy conditions on Sunday July 20th to complete a challenging 20-kilometre trek, raising vital funds for two cancer charities: Young Lives vs Cancer and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Undeterred by the rain, the team demonstrated incredible commitment and community spirit, raising a remarkable £2,135.00 with donations still coming in.
The event was organised by Katie Whiting, Executive Headteacher at Lympsham C of E Academy and East Brent C of E Academy, and Suzi Smith, Headteacher at Cheddar First School. Their leadership and hard work made the trek possible and helped shine a spotlight on the importance of supporting those affected by cancer.
“It was truly inspiring to see our staff come together for such a worthy cause,” said Gavin Ball, Trust Chief Executive. “Their efforts not only raised an impressive amount, but also united people in support of something meaningful.”
There’s still time to contribute to the fundraising total and support the life-changing work of both charities. Every donation helps provide care, support, and hope to families facing cancer.
