Becky Booth:

"I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to complete my teacher training at Axbridge school. Having worked as a teaching assistant for over 3 years I felt I was ready to embark on the journey to train to become a teacher. I was thrilled when Axbridge offered to support me with this and through SCITT I was able to join the Schools Direct program so that I could learn to teach, based at Axbridge school.

I could not have asked for a better place to train. I was supported throughout by an incredible team and was taught how to become the best that I could be, in order to get the best out of the children. Being surrounding by a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable teachers meant that I was able to learn in a supported environment. I felt like I was part of the team from day one and was made to feel extremely welcome.

Training at Axbridge meant that I was given the opportunity to teach in a variety of classes and year groups. Each class I taught in, I felt appreciated and was able to learn different techniques to suit different age groups. I was advised and supported but also given the opportunity to learn by doing, and I felt trusted to take responsibility of the class. Thanks to the Axbridge staff I was able to complete my training at an outstanding level. Training at Axbridge has given me the confidence and the ability to embrace my NQT year.

Whilst training was a challenge and at times difficult, being at Axbridge was, without doubt, the best start to my teaching career. It is the most fantastic school to work in and I feel truly blessed to have been given the chance to train in such an amazing place.

I would highly recommend anyone that is interested in becoming a teacher to train at Axbridge, or within the wider Wessex Family of schools. You could not get a more supportive, welcoming and incredible team to work with."
