Wessex Learning Trust Newsletter

Welcome from the Chief Executive
Dear Parents and Carers and families,
We are especially pleased to announce that St Cuthbert’s Infant School and St Cuthbert’s Junior School have now officially joined the Wessex Learning Trust family. These schools bring with them a strong sense of community, dedicated staff, and a shared commitment to nurturing every child’s potential. We’re thrilled to welcome them on board and are looking forward to working together to create new opportunities for all of our learners.
Another exciting development this term has been the continued growth of our Mentorship Scheme. At the Wessex Learning Trust, we believe that every learner deserves the guidance, support, and encouragement to unlock their full potential. This belief is at the heart of our Mentorship Scheme – a Trust-wide programme designed to provide students with tailored support through the dedicated efforts of our trained mentors. Whether it’s building confidence, supporting academic progress, or simply being someone to talk to, our mentors are making a real difference in the lives of the young people they work with. We’re also pleased to share that Mr. Evans has now started his central role as Facilities Services Operative. He will be supporting our school sites across the Trust with his skills and experience, helping to ensure that our facilities are safe, efficient, and well-maintained, while also reducing both the cost and time burden for each individual school. Welcome to the team, Mr. Evans — we’re delighted to have you on board!
Across our 22 schools, leisure centre, and teacher training centre, this term has been full of achievement and progress. From outstanding student performances in music, such as Clash of the Choirs and an Opera Performance in partnership with the Jackdaws Music Education Trust, to drama and sport, it has been heartening to see our students thrive. We are also continuing our investment in sustainability and digital learning. Staff across the Trust have engaged in new training opportunities, and our schools have hosted an array of enrichment activities, including STEM Week, Arts Festivals, and community fundraising events.
At the heart of all we do are the values of growth, curiosity, inclusion, and achievement. We believe that a great education should never come at the cost of a child’s wellbeing or individuality. Instead, it should provide every young person with the tools and confidence to flourish — both inside and outside the classroom.
As we look ahead, please do keep an eye on communications from your child’s school for upcoming events and key dates. We’re excited about what’s to come and grateful to have your continued support along the way.
On behalf of everyone at the Wessex Learning Trust, thank you once again. Your involvement and encouragement play an essential role in the success of our schools and the futures of our learners.
Warmest regards,
Gavin Ball
