Wessex Learning Trust Newsletter
Welcome from the Chief Executive
Dear Parents, Carers, and Families,
As we reach the close of an incredibly eventful autumn term, I’d like to take this opportunity to reflect on some of the exciting developments across our Trust and share our gratitude for the hard work and dedication of our entire community. It has been a term full of growth, achievement, and exciting new beginnings.
First and foremost, I am delighted to announce that Crosscombe Primary School, Stoke St Michael Primary School, and Elmhurst Junior School have officially joined the Wessex Learning Trust. We warmly welcome them into our growing family of schools, all of whom share our collective commitment to educational excellence. This is an exciting milestone for our Trust, and we are thrilled to support these schools as they continue to inspire and empower their learners.
Alongside the addition of new schools, we’ve also been working on refreshing the identities of several schools within the Trust. Cheddar First School, Mark CofE First School, Brent Knoll CofE Primary School, Hugh Sexey CofE Middle School, Crosscombe Primary School, Stoke St Michael Primary School, Kings Academy, and Nailsea School have all undergone rebranding to better align with our shared mission. These new, unified identities reflect our values and vision for the future, while enhancing the experience of our learners, staff, and the wider community. This process ensures that all our schools are positioned for continued growth, while maintaining a strong sense of connection and purpose across the Trust.
One initiative I am particularly excited about is the development of our Mentorship Scheme. At Wessex Learning Trust, we firmly believe that every learner deserves the support, encouragement, and guidance to unlock their full potential. Our new Mentorship Scheme aims to provide exactly that, with tailored support from dedicated mentors who will work alongside students to help them achieve their personal and academic goals. This initiative is designed to empower learners at every stage of their journey and ensure they have the tools and confidence to succeed.
In another exciting development, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Jacobs as the new Chair of the Board for Wessex Learning Trust. As Chair, Paul will play a pivotal role in overseeing our educational leadership and improvement, and I look forward to working alongside him as we continue to drive forward our mission of excellence.
As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to extend my deepest thanks to everyone across the Trust—our learners, staff, families, and wider community. Your dedication, positivity, and hard work have made this term one to remember, and I am incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together.
On behalf of all at Wessex Learning Trust, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to the exciting opportunities and achievements that 2025 will bring!
Warm regards,
Gavin Ball
